Large Talent Growth In Asia Expected by Online Sector reports Role Point

(EMAILWIRE.COM, December 19, 2012 ) San Francisco, CA -- When it comes to the supply and demand of talent, there has been a drastic market shift. While the sources wherein talent is recruited has been realigned, reports Oxford Economics in conjunction with Tower Watson.

The research was conducted on 352 HR professionals from across the globe, and the numbers identified four diverse forces that drive talent requirements in the coming years: Shifts in the demographics of labor, continued tech globalization, customer needs, and general competition.

The results of these four factors, the research argues that organizations need to reevaluate their business strategies and approaches, including the concepts of recruitment and talent-search strategies.

The rise of Asian economics continue, and firms need prepare for a long-term structural shift in the demand for labor as “a new geography of talent will come to define workplace recruitment”, according to the report.

The study also foresaw four areas in which skills are in greatest demand by the years 2017-2023. Digital skills, agile thinking capability, interpersonal and communication skills, as well as global operating skills are all noted as important capabilities.

Asian talent growth was expected to rise 22% over five-to-10 years. Western Europe was projected to only house 3.5% growth of talent.

The report noted countries in Eurasia, such as China and India, will attempt to improve education to facilitate talent growth. China seems to be capable of absorbing the talent, according to the study; however, India will have a surplus of college-educated talent, which will need to find work somewhere.

“The talent mismatch – between where talent is most needed and where it will be most available – is not likely to evaporate soon. Managing this skills gap in the developed world and recruiting appropriate talent in the emerging economies will become a critical task for global firms in the future,” states the report.
