IPhone 5 Ends Up With Strong Debuting Weekend reports Antreprenor

(EMAILWIRE.COM, December 25, 2012 ) Hauppauge, NY -- After all the news to the contrary, the Apple iPhone 5 did not have a cold reception in China in the end.

Despite the generally deserted launching of the gadget, sales were reported as being over two million over the first weekend. That is nearly the total that was met by the iPhone 4S in the entirety of the third quarter of its release, according to statistics from Analysys International.

Apple Chief Executive Tim Cook stated that there were new records for “first weekend sales” in the country, and that “China is a very important market for us.”. Sales for the Apple company hit $5.7 billion for the fourth quarter, and that accounts for over 16% of the global tally.

The demand for the iPHone shows that Apple does have some pull in the upper classes of Chinese consumerism. While its rivals gain on the lower end of the economic spectrum, holding some upper-middle and upper-class clout can be a good thing for any company.

Many vendors who were interviewed over the months leading up the the gadget's release were confident sales would be strong. There were some who were a bit worried about sales meeting quota, pointing to popularity of smart phones becoming more competitive amongst companies.

The United States has now fallen behind china in the smartphone market according to Strategy Analytics. That makes China an important battleground for Apple and Android as they compete for shares in the market. The Android currently claimed 56% of the market for handsets that were +3,000 yuan. Apple held 42% in the same demographic, according to Analysys International.

Analysts have stated that Apple will find a way to contend with the average prices of the competitors' smartphones, and will work hard through allocation of funding and research, to provide for the Chinese. Experts believe Apple will do all it can to come to terms with China's largest mobile provider, China Mobile, as well.
