(CityRegions.Com, March 29, 2018 ) The all-time favorite Nintendo Classic, Super Mario RPG, subtitled as Legend of the Seven Stars upon its release in North America in 1996, still conquers the RPG platform by storm.
It is estimated that about 500 million sales have been converted with the Mario franchise alone making it the best-selling in the gaming history. With its introduction just over 20 years ago, Nintendo didn’t stop from innovating and added two other Mario RPG series which are Mario & Luigi and Paper Mario respectively.
Primarily, the series of Mario games were merely linear adventures with not as much story to tell. When Super Mario RPG came, it revolutionized the traditional offering of the game. It launched the idea of a Mushroom Kingdom and added fresh attributes to characters. Originally, Bowser is known for being the main antagonist in all of the Mario series but the RPG version opened a new door for a lovable loser personality and established Smithy as the new villain. Furthermore, while Bowser and Princess Peach/Toadstool became more conversational, Mario’s character still sticks with the mute trait.
Though it has been the first of its kind for the Super Mario series, the RPG version pleased amateur and even seasoned players. The 3D graphics created a more visual presentation. It has made the in-game world realistic with the help of the flame effects and as well as the sharp lighting.
Aside from that, it also allowed the players to have more freedom when it comes to picking attacks. Players were equipped with the capability to time certain button presses to properly defend themselves from each attack. The high amount of replay can also be noticed in Super Mario RPG Rom. Super Mario RPG has been hailed as a legend when it comes to the gaming world. It may not be a heart-pounding or thrilling game but it can still offer a fun and enjoyable experience that any player would love to.
