(CityRegions.Com, April 05, 2018 ) After the thrilling death march in Pokémon Emerald, known speedrunner Mark “Werster” McKenzie still stayed on top and succeeded at the end of the game with many avid players celebrating his victory.
Pokémon Emerald was primarily developed by Game Freak, distributed by Nintendo and published by The Pokémon Company. Ever since it has been introduced to the public, it has attracted many players who come to love the RPG arena. Although it has the same gameplay and controls just like the previous series such as Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire, this version has established an overhead perspective when it comes to controlling the Pokémon trainer which makes it even more appealing. Aside from that, there were certain battles that allow for two-on-two combat that gives access to moves that can be used to support partners and as well as for attacking two or more Pokémon.
Months have passed and yet McKenzie’s triumph still lives in every single bit of our memory. McKenzie finished Pokemon Emerald ROM in a whopping 19 hrs, 4 min and 14 sec solid time. He is also no stranger in playing Pokémon with bagging either first or second place records. He was well-known for being a speedrunner in the Pokémon series (Pokémon Crystal and HeartGold), Sonic Series, Blue Sphere, Golden Sun, Warioware and many more.
However, the Emerald version has its fair share of surprise which made it more tedious, mainly at the end of the game which turns out to be a Battle Frontier. Unlike the usual speedrunner would do, McKenzie bravely speedruns the difficult Battle frontier. Traditionally, the Pokémon trainer chooses what type of attack a Pokémon does. In this phase, the Pokémon has the freedom to select whichever attack they may like. There are also phases in the Emerald version that was newly introduced such as the Southeastern island within the Hoenn region which was the replacement for the Battle Towers seen in Sapphire and Ruby series. In addition, the Battle Palace is also another feature that was first seen in any Pokémon series.
It was a bittersweet moment indeed. The victory has been a true accomplishment for McKenzie. Most gamers and fans bid their warm greetings of triumph to the speedrunner on his Twitter and Youtube channel. The complete video of his game can also be seen on his Youtube Channel.
Meanwhile, in a recent video, McKenzie shared why he loves speedrunning. Even though some would critic his passion for speedrunning, there were still be those who will give their utmost support because they are in the same boat.
