(CityRegions.Com, September 11, 2021 ) NEW YORK, NY - It was an exciting evening indeed as the stars turned out to attend the VIP launch party of an exclusive collection of work by the pioneers of hip-hop, arranged by Snoop Dogg and legendary music producer, Russell Simmons, on the new platform, TOKAU. The platform enables celebrities and influencers alike to engage with fans using what is known as NFT, or non-fungible tokens, technology.
NFT is a form of digital currency that, unlike other cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, cannot be exchanged for another NFT token because each is unique to itself.
For those unfamiliar with Bitcoin, one (1) Bitcoin is always equal to another (1) Bitcoin, the same way a physical US dollar is always equal to another physical US dollar. That being said, items sold digitally using NFT technology are exclusively one of a kind…and are apparently becoming all the rage in terms of digital bragging rights.
Most items sold using NFT technology are digital artworks that one could easily find in an online search. However, when somebody purchases that digital artwork (directly from the artist, in fact) using NFT technology, that person owns the digital rights to that digital photo, or video, or GIF, or….
Still confused? Try this: Nowadays instead of owning a priceless Rembrandt, one could instead purchase the digital rights to a picture of Grumpy Cat and show it off to all their friends in the same fashion they would a famous painting. One’s purchase would even include special encoding to prove its authenticity. #MindBlowing.
The ‘Masterminds of Hip-Hop’ will use this technology to sell, to the highest bidder, exclusive content, such as videos, recordings and artwork, created by hip-hop artists of the past that have never before been released to the public. The goal is to help tell the story of how hip-hop came to be known as one of the most epic and influential genres in modern day music.
Step and Repeat LA created the backdrop for the launch party using a matte-finished fabric to ensure picture-perfect results. The logos for the evening’s sponsors, which include Paybby, gushcloud, and BakerySwap, can be seen in all their crisp, high-res glory thanks to the state-of-the-art printing technology used by the team at Step and Repeat LA.
