Apparently, the Orange County received an ‘F’ rating for following the protocols of the tobacco control policies and this fact was confirmed by none other than the American Lung Association. As per the California tobacco control 2013 policy listings, the main agenda of such rules and regulations is to ensure that the local population is spared from the wrath of the highly offensive cigarette smoke.
The California Local Grade tobacco control policies for the year 2013 were made more stringent following the low rating that they received from the governing bodies. The only respite was in the form of Luguana Woods and Luguana Falls territory, wherein the scores were higher than the state’s average, as these two territories had imposed strict no-smoking policies. Apparently, Laugana Woods did not permit smokers to smoke cigarettes from open patios or balconies of their apartments. This helped clean the air and the board gave them an ‘A’ score for helping keep the outdoor air clean.
According to Tech-Cigarette.com, “The main reason behind the Orange County region receiving an ‘F’ score was the lack of increase in the tobacco cigarette tax. In California, the tax on cigarettes has remained at a modest 87 cents since the year 1999, while the national American average for the same is $1.48. It has been proposed by the tobacco control policy makers that the tax for a cigarette pack in California be increased to $1 and $600 million should be utilized each year on tobacco control measures.”
