Research finds WomenÂ’s Life Expectancy Drops reports Favors By Serendipity

(EMAILWIRE.COM, February 02, 2013 ) San Clemente, CA -- According to recent research, men are now beginning to close the gap in life expectancy with their female counterparts.

The lifespan of men saw a change in expectancy that outperformed women for the first time in half a century. It found that the expectancy of a woman is shortened for the first time in nearly 50 years.

However, the life expectancy remained the same for a man, according to research that was handled by the actuarial industry.

The gap of mortality between men and women has been closing in every since the late 1980s, as a larger number of women have adopted the lifestyles similar to the ones held by men in the past.

Their expectancy advantage over men had been eroding ever since the majority have taking up more intensive education and career options, which involve the same levels of stress and release response as males. Women have also seen an increased use of alcohol across the board. For some groups of women, life expectancy has failed to improve for over a decade, and does not appear to show signs of improvement.

The latest official numbers were drawn up by the Office of National Statistics, which stated that a newborn boy can expect an average lifespan of 78.9 years, while a girl can see 82.9 years. The gap of four years has fallen since it was six years apart at the start of the 1970s.

The first breakdown of deaths in both England and Wales, carried out by the Institute of Faculty and Actuaries means that the overall gap may have closed by a further two months just over a year's worth of time.

If the analysis is correct, then while the men's life expectancy will have remained stagnant, that of the girls will have dropped by 0.2 years.

The institute analyzed just under 500,000 deaths over 2012, and discovered that the chance of dying early rose by 1% overall.
