(EMAILWIRE.COM, March 17, 2013 ) San Francisco, CA -- A green building is a good thing, and it might even be the right thing when it comes to developing. Still, the biggest question for those within the industry is also the most important: Is it profitable? A new report stated that it is getting there, but perhaps is not there just yet.
United Technologies, the company that makes Carrier air conditioners and Otis elevators, teamed up with the McGraw Hill Construction company to produce the latest green building report, “World Green Building Trends.”
The new report was released at the end of February and includes the responses from nearly 800 architects, engineers, and other experts in the field, which all state the green building is become more profitable with each year.
The key finding within the research was the 76% of respondents that noted a green building lowers overall operating costs. The savings can benefit the bottom line of the building owners general concerns with the energy being consumed.
A second key finding was that the green building boosts the values of the buildings overall. At the same time, more clients of builders are looking to implement the use of green-building techniques. The move is not only utilized by personal purchasers, but also by industry and business consumers. Office buildings, apartment complexes, and department stores are all looking to become more green, according to the report.
Due to the demand, more developers, builders, and architects in the field are not looking to maximize the quality and efficiency of green production. The survey noted that 51% of all respondents expect to see nearly two-thirds of all construction as green within the next half-decade. That is a boost from only a quarter expectancy for 2013.
