Experts Say More Educated and Accredited Workers Needed for Cloud-Related Sector reports The Cloud Online Storage

(EMAILWIRE.COM, January 09, 2013 ) San Francisco, CA -- With over 1.7 million cloud computing-related jobs being without a quality employee to fill them in 2012, certification and experience is a key component that must be looked at for businesses in the upcoming year.

IDC reports that the 1.7 million jobs that could not be filled were left open due to lack of training and experience. The demand for the cloud-savvy IT professionals will be growing by 26% annually until the year 2015, which means as many as seven million cloud-related vacancies need to be filled world wide. That prediction by IDC is in the white paper titled “Climate Change: Cloud's Impact on IT Organizations and Staffing.”

IDC warned that there are urgent needs to retain existing IT professionals because there are so few to replace them, and students should pursue cloud-related IT training and certificates to land surefire and lucrative future work.

“Cloud-ready jobs are increasing as we head into 2013, but with this increase comes the harsh reality that IT pros around the world are steps behind when it comes to attaining the skills necessary to thrive in the cloud computing industry,” said Cushing Anderson at IDC.

The skill gap comes at a time when almost 66% of enterprises are planning, in the midst of implementing, or have recently switched over to cloud computing. More than 50% of businesses agree that cloud computing has become a major priority for their respective businesses.

“Unlike IT skill shortages in the past, solving this skills gap is extremely challenging, given that cloud brings a new set of skills, which haven’t been needed in the past. There is no one-size-fits-all set of criteria for jobs in cloud computing,” added Anderson.
Training is thus essential to preparing for job candidates in order to attain work in the cloud-related job market, according to Anderson.
