(EMAILWIRE.COM, April 20, 2013 ) San Clemente, CA -- While the revolution may not be televised, one's wedding very well might. According to a recent report that was conducted by the David's Bridal company, 49% of those within a studied group would consider the notion of Skype-ing their impending nuptials. The study, which was titled “What's on Brides’ Minds Survey” claimed that the wedding has finally gone digital and instead of fancy wedding planners, the newest in tools of the trade are smartphones and tablets.
Social networking has now become the preferred and almost necessary wedding planning tool, as over 59% of brides-to-be use Facebook or blogs in order to search for their wedding ideas. Pinterest has also risen in its standing as the go-to network for wedding vision boards, with nearly 46% of all respondents noting they found a collection of ideas on friends' boards.
Also found in the study was an increased number of brides that are using tech to collaborate even the most sacred of preparations. A total of 68% of brides have reported snapping photos of the dress fittings and texting them to friends. Still, 61% of participants stated they would not allow bridesmaids to share photos of the dress prior to the ceremony.
According to the numbers, 56% of newlywed brides feel that social media guidelines should be spelled out for the ceremony. In other words, the brides do not need anyone ruining their special day, whether in-person or over the internet. Another 52% of the respondents feel that the newlyweds should have first dibs on posting weddings pictures on social media sites, though how to enforce that is a mind bogglingly daunting.
Following the catching of the bouquet, the cake being sliced, and the award best-man toast is made, brides are excited to share their very special news. The report noted 59% of brides update their Facebook status and/or name change within a day of the official “I do”, which is a jump of 11% from 2011.
