(EMAILWIRE.COM, April 20, 2013 ) San Francisco, CA -- A picture of Danica Patrick's buckle is worth 10,000 Twitter followers, at least that stands as true if you are Ricky Stenhouse Jr.
Patrick and Stenhouse, NASCAR's first couple, struck a deal to allow Patrick could boost her beau's Twitter following in return for a flashy cowboy belt buckle above. With nearly 900,000 Twitter followers, Danica Patrick knows a thing or two about bringing in an audience.
Danica explained in a recent interview: “This started at the beginning of last year when he wanted some Twitter followers. I said, ‘If I help you with that can I have a belt buckle?’ That started at Daytona. So he had it made. I got it just before the second Texas race last year so I wore it last year at the end of the year.”
The Danica buckle is similar to the rodeo attire worn by Sternhouse, who is a two-time nationwide Series champion. The custom-made apparel item features Patrick's own logo. On either side of the logo are diamond-encrusted Nos. 10 and 7, which represent the two car numbers Patrick drove in 2012. Beneath the logo numbers are capital letters spelling out Patrick's name.
Patrick certainly seems to enjoy the new accessory item: “It was very nice. I know these things are handmade, they’re not cheap, and it’s really cool to have. It says ‘To the fastest girl in town‘ so it was a nice gift. He didn’t actually need to live up to the bet but it was nice that he did.”
Patrick came across wholly cowgirl on Twitter, and it helps make the buckle seem to fit perfectly. Before championship rings were adopted, buckles were the common prize in NASCAR. After Stenhouse won his second Nationwide Series title he said he would prefer a buckle over a ring.
