(EMAILWIRE.COM, May 14, 2013 ) San Francisco, CA -- The development Counselors International group recently conducted a survey that involved the meeting planners from across the industry. The group looked to identify the best locations and activities for meetings. The study noted that focuses on the areas that were considered the most positive for meeting choices.
While the study was primarily about the general perception of the meeting planners across the North American regions, it did find time to cover areas outside that spectrum. DCI Vice President Karyl Leigh Barnes noted that those in charge of the surveying went directly to customers of the meeting industry in order to come up with their results.
There was a noted strong level of competition among many locations for the meetings, and Bares added that the audience had to be considered in order to understand the organizations tallies.
There were over 187 meeting planners who were involved in the study, and the survey asked for general preferences in locations for North America-based meetings, as well as preferences outside the area. It covered sources of influence for all considerations including news, marketing, conferences preferred, and educational trip importance.
Spain and the United Kingdom showed to be the top two preferred international meeting locations. London garnered a 20.2% for top choice when it came to international meetings. Barcelona and Paris both showed up at 10.1% for the second spot, while Singapore and Hong Kong came in at 7.3% and 6.2% respectively.
The location and proximity to cross-culture international individuals involved in meetings is considered the likely reason for each of the top spots. The survey also noted that international meeting destination reps have the highest influence. Peers within the industry are the second highest influence, while personal or business travel came in at third.
