(EMAILWIRE.COM, May 14, 2013 ) Anaheim, CA - For the first time, a student from Emerson College in Boston is the winner of the Jim Nantz Award. Ross Lippman (Sr, Emerson) has earned the coveted trophy as the nationÂ’s most outstanding collegiate sports broadcaster.
The Jim Nantz award, named in honor of the veteran CBS Sports broadcaster, is presented annually by Sportscasters Talent Agency of America (STAA). This yearÂ’s trophy will be presented June 10th at the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters AssociationÂ’s annual awards banquet in Salisbury, NC.
“Immediately after watching Ross’s video submission I knew he was going to be a finalist for the award,” says STAA CEO Jon Chelesnik. “His ability jumped off the screen. He’s a terrific writer and performer.”
In addition to LippmanÂ’s honors, two other Emerson students are among the top 20 in STAAÂ’s ranking, Biana Buono and Jaclyn Cangro placed 16th and 17th.
It’s the second straight year Emerson College has placed three students among the Top 20. “Major kudos to John Rooke, one of their outstanding instructors,” says Chelesnik.
