(EMAILWIRE.COM, May 18, 2013 ) San Francisco, CA -- A UK-based web hosting provider, PEER 1 Hosting, has released the results of its latest study that found that people have not turned to the cloud for security reasons.
The survey was conducted at the annual Cloud Expo in January.
What is “The Cloud”?
In essence, the cloud, or cloud computing, is another word for the internet. WhatÂ’s different is that the cloud is not as large as the internet, but rather a small device that hold lots of storage, from pictures to files and information of web pages. There are private clouds that are specific to one network of computers or public cloud whose services are available to everyone
Google Drive, Netflix, and Dropbox are all examples of the public cloud in action. Apple allows you to store all of your items like your contacts to your music from your iPod, iPad, Mac and other Apple products into the cloud.
Since it has been created, several security issues have come up, bringing it under scrutiny by a lot of IT specialists, The expensive cost has always turned away small businesses who tend to benefit from its services.
Of all IT companies surveyed, 92% say they havenÂ’t integrated cloud into their work because of outstanding security threats that have not been addressed. 42% of those surveyed said they didnÂ’t want to pay the expensive price to fully integrate it into their business.
For those that did purchase cloud for their businesses, only 25% felt truly protected with the full integration.
Cloud expectations
The survey asked what would make cloud better, and there seems to be a high demand for cost-effective ways to integrate cloud into businesses in a private, secure manner. Perhaps that is something for cloud developers to think about for next yearÂ’s expo.
