(EMAILWIRE.COM, May 28, 2013 ) San Francisco, CA -- For the first time in its survey history, the American Customer Satisfaction Index included Internet Service Providers, along with regulars like wireless and fixed-line telephone companies.
According to its annual report, which typically surveys 50 industries a year, companies that provide data, voice and video services received the lowest rankings for customer satisfaction.
Comcast received the lowest score for internet service, with a customer service satisfaction ranking of barely 62 percent. Time Warner Cable did not fare much better with consumers, coming a close second with only 63 percent customer satisfaction. CustomerLink was the best, albeit not very good, with a 64 percent customer satisfaction ranking.
The Internet Service Provider industry as a whole only had a customer satisfaction ranking of 65 percent, however, Verizon FIOS did top with 70 percent satisfaction.
According to ACSI, only three other industries over the past year at customer satisfaction averages of less than 70 percent. Those included airlines, television subscription services like Dish Network and DirectTV.
ItÂ’s likely that the ISP customer satisfaction will change anytime soon, and thatÂ’s no surprise. The same data plan that costs $200 a month in America only costs $20 to $30 in countries like Hong Kong or Seol, while across the United States monopolies for local providers allow companies like Comcast and Time Warner Cable to offer sub par service at a significantly high price.
