(EMAILWIRE.COM, June 06, 2013 ) San Francisco, CA -- In the Kitco News Gold Survey, out of 36 participants, 27 responded to the survey last week. Of those 27 participants, 17 saw gold prices going up, while four saw gold prices going down and six believed they would stay sideways, or continue neutral.
As of Friday, prices on the week were up by almost $5. If that holds, then most survey participants forecast correctly. Since May 13, 2011, when the survey started, participants have been right 44.8% of the time. Since November 23, survey participants had more than a 50% accuracy rate, suggesting that since then there has been a change in the trend for gold.
Previously, there were worries that the Federal Reserve tapering off its bond purchases in its quantitative easing program, but those who thought the price of gold will continue to grow may gain ground that the Feds wonÂ’t start curbing purchases. There was fear that the program could start slowing down as early as June.
