It turns out that British women are spending nearly $400 per year on lost make up items, according to a study conducted by the website FeelUnique.com. That number is only an average, meaning that some women are losing nearly double that amount every year. Such women should likely stop purchasing makeup altogether, but that's a whole separate issue.
And where do all the lost items go to? According to the study found that the main areas that are culprits for eating up mascara tubes and compacts are cars, public transport systems, and cabs. The toilet also came up as a main culprit, as women are apparently careless in the stalls and while getting made up at home.
Nearly a third of all women claimed to carry makeup in bags well over $300. One out of every ten women stated that their make up cases costs well over $800. With such a rate, that would mean one in three women are planning on spending around $26,000 on replacement makeup in their lifetime. That does not include all makeup, but simply the items that are lost throughout one's life.
One must wonder then, if the average women is shelling out such numbers for standard makeup and makeup bags, what on earth must starlets be paying. Reality stars like Kelly Osbourne, Amanda Seyfried, and Katy Perry certainly aren't spending a mere $300 on a makeup bag. Yet statistics would assume that each is losing a significant amount of makeup each and every year.
