(EMAILWIRE.COM, June 09, 2013 ) San Francisco, CA -- While the cat is out of the bag on TwitterÂ’s new music application, both We Are Hunted and Twitter are keeping quiet about whatÂ’s in store for users.
Ryan Seacrest tweeted during this past season of American Idol that he was “playing around with Twitter’s music app” and assured his followers it was real. According to Seacrest, it shows what artists are trending and what artists are making their way to the top charts. Since Seacrest hosts the radio show “American Top 40”, it’s not surprise the app made it into his hands.
As for We Are Hunted, they informed its users of the acquisition on its site, giving them the opportunity to grab their favorites before their accounts are shut down. This is a sign that Twitter is becoming a hub for all media, from photos to news and now to music.
While SpotifyÂ’s special relationship with Facebook means that music can also easily be shared, itÂ’s not always in a public way. Twitter is more open, and while it does have a private account option, it is seen as a public place to share what youÂ’re up to with the whole world.
ThereÂ’s a lot of possibilities with a standalone music app, most importantly revenue source, for both record labels and sponsors of the application.
