Chatroulette is an online chat website that randomly pairs users from around the world for webcam based conversations.
89 percent of users who visit chatroulette are single males, according to the infograph, compared to just 11 percent of single females. In fact, ChatrouletteSites infograph cites a Wikipedia article that says users are more likely to encounter a webcam that features no person at all than to get paired with a solo female.
Eight percent of spins show multiple people behind the camera. Women (every one in three) are most likely to be with someone on chatroulette, while one in twelve men will have at least one other person with them.
ChatrouletteSites notes that if you’re looking for a chat session that is “R” rated or below, you’ll find it in about 12 percent of spins, but users are more likely to encounter a sign asking for female nudity than they are to actually encounter real nudity.
Almost half of all chat spins will connect users to someone in the United States, as chatroulette is most common in the USA. France follows in second, taking up 15 percent of users. Italy, however, has the highest concentration of single males at 98 percent, barely two percent of italian women will use chatroulette solo. Italy also has the most men over 40 years old, almost three times the concentration of that age group for men in the US at just four percent. The United States has the highest percentage of groups at 13 percent, followed by 9 percent of people in the Netherlands.
Chatroulette’s age demographic is quite broad. Of all users on chatroulette, 70% were considered “young adults”, 20 percent were under the age of 20 and only 10 percent were over 40 or older.
Females tend to be younger than males when using chatroulette. 23 percent of females were younger than 20 while only 18 percent of men were younger than 20. Also, only three percent of women who use chatroulette are over 40, while eight percent of men were over 40.
