(EMAILWIRE.COM, July 03, 2013 ) Los Angeles, CA -- Baylor University scholars in business and sociology found that entrepreneurs are more likely to pray than non-entrepreneurs and see God as a personal being who is active in their lives.
The study, published in the Journal for the Scientific Study of Religion, which was published this month also looked at how religion played a role in business and how some religious communities help foster entrepreneurial spirits and success to help improve the economy.
Kevin D. Dougherty, who co-authored study and also works as a professor of sociology at Baylor, a private Baptist university in Texas said the purpose of the study was to research an overlooked connection to business activity and entrepreneurial success. One of the major questions the study looked at was whether or not God or faith inspired people to take chances in the business world.
The study found that, while entrepreneurs pray more, they donÂ’t necessarily attend church more than non-entrepreneurs, more than half entrepreneurs said they pray at least once every day while nearly half of all non-entrepreneurs say they pray once a week or less.
In a future study, Dougherty said he would like to explore more in depth about prayer and religious beliefs in entrepreneurs to see if faith plays a bigger role in success than previously thought, in several aspects.
