According to Venturebeat, more than ¾ of discarded IPhones are broken in some fashion or form. This makes Apple the smartphone brand with the most broken devices. A recent survey also reported that 23% of IPhone owners said their screens were damaged in some way. Since 2007, damaged IPhones have cost Americans $5.9 billion. An additional 30% of IPhone owners have experienced damaged in the last year, while 6% of users taped up their phones at least once.
Based on the infographic, 69% of IPhone accidents are caused by owners. 50% of IPhone users under age 35 have also had accidents with their phones. Loss and theft are also major factors in IPhone abuse and accidents. The infographic also lists the top five damage prone zones. While 8% of IPhone accidents occur in the bedroom, 18% happen in the living room. 10% of phone mishaps also happen in the driveway, while 16% take place in bathrooms. Topping the list is 21% of phone accidents, which take place in the kitchen.
While repair services are available for customers, there are several reasons why I-Phone screens are left unfixed. Based on the infographic, 32% of owners simply procrastinate to get their units repaired. 24% of these owners also have no phone insurance, while 21% simply cannot afford the costs. 19% believe in salvaging their phones; even with visible damages. 4% of owners have other reasons as to why they are not getting their phones fixed.
The infographic also lists the top 5 IPhone accident scenarios. This includes 30% of users that had Iphones simply fall or slip out of their hands. 18% of IPhones were accidentally immersed in liquid, while 13% fell out of laps. 11% of users also knocked their Iphones off their tables by accident. 9% even spilled liquids on their phones by accident. As an amazing fact, 5% of IPhone users have left their devices in washing machines. 9% have also dropped their phones into toilets or sinks.
