(EMAILWIRE.COM, August 03, 2013 ) San Francisco, CA -- The FBI and other agencies are looking into a recently closed paralegal business in Oceanside for unpaid rent and utilities, on top of of a “100 percent money-back guarantee” the firm promised its clients if they couldn’t get certain records expunged from their credit report.
Among the clients, who spent between $2,000 and $6,000 to have foreclosures and shortsales taken from their credit records were a Palm Springs real estate broker and a three-time Olympian, who is now a professional athlete. Christian Arbid, the broker, calls it a certifiable scam.
Arbid shared similar stories of being denied a refund when the law firm failed a test he had set tp to “see how good you are” before letting his 150 agents meet with the credit-repair firm. One of the men who ran the firm tried to suggest he was a lawyer, has no real proof he is, and the FBI has been contacting many of the clients to gather information about the how the businesses was ran and what kinds of papers were signed.
In 2008, the company was in trouble in Ohio involving a violations of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act of 199, in which the owners of the business stated that this type of business was for the faint of heart.
As for the clients, they are still working on repairing their credit and dealing with their past foreclosures. Now, they will be more careful at who they trust when it comes to credit repair and who claims to be a legitimate business.
