(EMAILWIRE.COM, August 03, 2013 ) San Francisco, CA -- The Asian Youth Games, or AYG, is scheduled to kick off in a few weeks, and the organizer is putting in a lot of thought to customizing the games to be a sports event “for the youth, by the youth” to help best suit the younger generation’s interests.
This year, all youth is invited to be involved both directly and indirectly in the sports events, whether they are athletes or not, as a way to include every child in Asia. The Heart-to-Heart program, initiated for selected school in Nanjing by the Asian youth Games, was set up to befriend their counterparts from countries in the continent before the games, and make them feel at home.
Asian Youth Games, like the Olympics, is held every fours years to complement the current Asian Games. Events include swimming and diving, athletics, 3-on-3 basketball, volleyball, bowling, football, sailing, shooting, and table tennis.
One of the schools, Nanjing Foreign Language School, was selected to receive athletes from Lebanon. The student at Nanjing Foreign Language School have been spending their time learning about the country through the Internet, and have also found a high school to start a friendship with to learn more about the culture.
The AYG has also enlisted other young volunteers to help out during the event. Some tasks include preparation, decoration, training and some young women, aged between 19 and 22, are serving as Miss Etiquette to assist in AYG ceremonies. Volunteers to render first aid and language services have also been recruited.
