People read online reviews, and traffic to the top 10 reviews sites continues to grow regularly each months. Online reviews help boost a businessÂ’s online conversion rates by up to 20 percent, and 52 percent of consumers surveyed say that good online reviews leave them more likely to try a local business.
Three out of four people donÂ’t believe companies are being completely honest in their own advertising, so they turn to user-generated reviews of products and services to find out exactly what the company is like and if their purchase will be worth the cost. 92 percent of consumers who look for a review online of a business have confidence in the information they find from other consumers.
For local businesses, a Verdict Research survey shows that 51 percent of consumers turn to the internet to make decisions about where to spend money locally, such as before making a purchase at a local store or buying a service at a local shop.
While there are some reviews that seem bad based on one experience, 97 percent of shoppers found online reviews to be accurate after making a purchase, and 70 percent of people share the reviews they read with friends family, increasing their effect.
Organic click-through generates 25 percent higher conversion rates than equivalent Pay-Per-Click (PPC) when the search engine user is shopping to make a purchase. Search users click the top-ranking link 42 percent of the time, while only 8 percent click the number two link. Only 23 percent of searchers bother moving on to the second page of search engine results, making search engine optimization even more important.
When SEO is compared with PPC, 40 percent of SEO campaigns tracking ROI achieved a 500 percent or better return on investment compared with just 22 percent of PPC campaigns achieving the same level of success.
