A lot of people cite that the divorce statistic is around 50 percent, but experts now claim that the rate is in the 40 percent range.
Another Census statistic is that first marriages tend to last longer than second marriages. The average length of the first marriage is 20.8 years, while second marriages only last around 14.5. However, second marriages happen later in life, so death is more likely to end the marriage.
When remarrying, take some time to be single to reexamine what living with you is like. Figure out exactly why you want to be married again, and be open and honest about finances for a smoother ride and transition into sharing a life again. Discuss parenting roles in advance if either of you have children, and agree with each other on taking the step of going to coupleÂ’s therapy if it is ever needed.
