(EMAILWIRE.COM, August 05, 2013 ) Westfield, IN -- Those who missed Mark Moran the last time he brought his appraisal fair to the Coulee Region are finally in luck. Moran will be in Holmen next Wednesday for an event put on by the Holmen Area Historical Society. He was in the area back in February for a similar event hosted by the Onalaska Public Library.
Between those two events, MoranÂ’s extensive touring loop have taken him all over the state of Wisconsin, most recently up and down the Mississippi River, with stops just recently in Prescott, Somerset and St. Croix.
Moran says of his tour “I’ve been spreading the fun”. He has over 40 years of experience working with antiques and collectibles. In 1970, he started out as a collector, and in the 1980s became a dealer. Since the 1990s,, he has co-authored more than 25 books.
Onalaska resident Cretchen Skoloda is excited about the appraisal fair She inherited something from her great aunt many, many years ago but she just isn’t sure what it is. She herself describes it as a “jeweled glass” serving set, but she’s not entirely sure.
Interesting pieces always have a way of ending up on MoranÂ’s appraisal table. Last year, a painting that Moran appraised at the event in Prescott recently sold for over $16,000 at an auction. In another instance, Moran advised a man to sell his 1950s pin-up calendar at a consignment auction, where it sold for 3,200 times what it he had bought for at a yard sale 20 years before.
