(EMAILWIRE.COM, August 13, 2013 ) San Francisco, CA -- The old community center still has to win approval from the Planning Commission, but so far, the city commissioners have paved the way easily with high praise from residents. The library will be started in December and, if everything goes smoothly, will take between 12 and 16 months.
Architect Vincent Benic is excited to be in on the project, helping to preserve such a historical piece of the Hudson area. He plans to create the community center on the first floor with the senior center on the second floor. Beyond the old drill shed, he will design a large library.
The old garage, which was built in 1957 and has no significant historical value, will be demolished to make room for the health center. The bluestone around the area is mostly in good condition, and designers say that the outdoor area of the library will remain muscular in nature, like the armory, because they didnÂ’t want a completely modern renovation.
