(EMAILWIRE.COM, September 12, 2013 ) Houston, TX – In Late August a two-year old was viciously attacked by a neighborhood dog, the boy is finally home and recovering from his injuries. The toddler from southwest Houston suffered facial lacerations and injuries to his scalp. Deep puncture wounds were also found on his back.
According to reports the little boy was playing outdoors with neighborhood kids when the boyÂ’s brother came indoors and told his mom that his little brother was dead. The boyÂ’s mother ran outside and found him covered in blood with the neighborÂ’s dog nearby baring blood around the mouth.
The dog, a pit bull/ Rottweiler mix, was supposedly being supervised by the ownerÂ’s stepson however the victimÂ’s mother said the dog was unsupervised when she saw him.
Anthony Donnell Ruff, the dogÂ’s owner, was charged with a felony for the attack the failing to secure his dog.
According to the Center for Disease Control each year more than 800,000 people seek emergency medical attention for dog bite injuries although it is reported that 4.7 million people are actually bitten by a dog each year.
